| i shut down my site quite some time ago. however, yesterday i was walking through the mall and i saw something so ironic that i decided it was worth bringing my xanga back just to write about it. everyone has heard/will soon hear about the new special edition "red" ipod... bono and oprah support it, therefore it will be known. anyway, gap (the clothing store) just made these new "red" t-shirts... you know, this all for supporting aids research and defense against aids. the t-shirts cost 28 bucks. that's fine. im not gonna blow 28 bucks on any t-shirt, no matter what. but i understand why they jack up the price. (as a side note, i dont think that buying a t-shirt or an ipod is really going to do much, except make the person who purchased it feel good and cool and hip and try and show it off and then go his/her friends and be like look what i am doing for the global the community, and if it was me, i would be like you aren't doing anything except spending money and trying to look cool. way to go.) but anyway, the irony was that as i was walking away from the gap store, i noticed the girl who was advertising for the new "red" shirts. now, first of all, the guy was that kid who did "hotel rwanda" which was a real good movie and all. he was pseudo-pulling his shirt off. the emphasis was obviously on his muscles and all. but the girl, now she was just scantily clad. her little jacket was all she was wearing and the obvious emphasis was on her breasts. i was just thinking to myself.... what in the world?! here we are trying to do something about aids right... well then what the HECK are we doing trying to sell SEX, while advertising for AIDS? there are not adequate or appropriate words to describe my anger in that moment. let's help aids right? (ohandbtwlookathowhotthischickisyouwilllookjustlikeheranddudeswillwanttogetwithyoujustbesafeandhavefunandwearprotection) you have got to be kidding me. as josh said, "gap probably has some link or sponsorship with some condem company." yea, probably. i almost wanted to return the shirt that i had just bought from that incredibly ironic and idiotic store. GAP, in my mind, now stands for "Giving AIDS Props." whatever. |
